Message from the Head
Welcome to the Department of Construction Technology at the Faculty of Technology, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. As one of the four specialized academic departments within the Faculty of Technology, our goal is to nurture the next generation of technological leaders, innovators, and practical problem-solvers for the built environment. We offer a robust four-year degree program leading to the Bachelor of Engineering Technology Honours in Construction Technology(BET (Hons) in Construction Technology). Through a balance of academic rigor, practical application, and personal development, we prepare our graduates to meet the challenges of a dynamic global construction industry. Academic Rigor & Global Benchmarks: Our curriculum is thoughtfully crafted by subject matter experts to address both current industry practices and emerging future trends. Having undergone independent expert review and official approval by relevant governing bodies, the curriculum fully aligns with the international benchmark standards set by the Sydney Accord. This accreditation framework ensures our graduates earn a globally recognized qualification. To further enhance career versatility and graduate employability, the Department offers targeted optional course units alongside core technological modules. Academic delivery is spearheaded by highly qualified, dynamic faculty members supported by experts from partner faculties, other leading universities, and experienced industry professionals. Practical Excellence & Infrastructure: We believe that true technological competency relies on direct practical experience. Our Department is equipped with comprehensive laboratory and field-testing facilities that allow undergraduates to gain essential hands-on training. Every student works directly with industry-standard equipment to master the technical skills needed on project sites and in testing facilities. Holistic Growth & Graduate Capabilities: Technical knowledge is only one component of a successful career. Throughout their four-year journey, our undergraduates participate in structured soft-skills training—fostering communication, teamwork, project management, and leadership skills. With an annual intake designed to maintain focused student-to-lecturer interaction, we ensure every student receives the guidance needed to graduate as a versatile, industry-ready professional. I invite prospective students, industry partners, and academic collaborators to explore our website to discover more about our academic programs, laboratory capabilities, and department initiatives.
