The Faculty of Technology, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Rupa Purasinghe (University Web Profile) as the External Reviewer for its Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Honours) Degree Programmes.

The appointment of an External Reviewer is an important component of the faculty’s quality assurance framework. The reviewer will provide independent academic and professional expertise to evaluate the curriculum, programme delivery, assessment practices, and overall quality of the programmes. The review will support the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic standards and ensure that the programmes continue to meet national and international standards for engineering technology education.

Professor Rupa Purasinghe is the Chair of the Department of Technology at California State University, Los Angeles, and previously served as Chair of the Department of Civil Engineering. He is an ABET-approved Program Evaluator for both Engineering and Engineering Technology programmes and led the development of the university’s Engineering Technology programme, which achieved ABET accreditation in 2024. His contributions to engineering education have been recognised with the California ASCE Faculty Advisor of the Year Award and the Cal State LA Outstanding Professor Award (2025). Professor Purasinghe holds a B.Sc. from the University of Peradeniya, an M.S. from Portland State University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He is also a registered Professional Engineer in California and Ohio.
